Buttermilk is one of the important ingredients in baking especially in eggless baking. This buttermilk will be ready in 10 minutes and with just 2 ingredients. This buttermilk can be only use for your baking projects.
How to make buttermilk with vinegar? and how to use it in baking projects? is the common question I received so many times. I have recently started using buttermilk in my baking projects and I find this recipe very useful hence I am sharing it with you all.
Before moving further, I just want to mention here, This is not regular buttermilk which made from curd, This buttermilk is made from milk and vinegar/lemon juice. This buttermilk can ONLY be used for baking where buttermilk is required.
You can use this buttermilk to make recipes like bread, waffles, pancakes, cakes, biscuits, etc. I have recently used this buttermilk in my chocolate cookies too.

How to make buttermilk for baking
Ingredients
- ⅓ cup milk, * check notes
- 1 teaspoon plain white vinegar , OR Lemon Juice
Instructions
- First measure white vingear or lemon juice properly.
- Take a mixing bowl or cup and mix milk and vinegar together.
- keep aside for 5 to 10 minutes and you will notice that your milk has curdled already.
- Use this buttermilk in your next baking projects.
Notes
- I used 3.25% milk here however you can use your choice of milk.
- I have not tried this method with any dairy-free milk varieties yet.
- You can store this buttermilk for 2 to 3 days in a refrigerator.
- Use this buttermilk in your baking projects only. This buttermilk can not be replaced with your regular buttermilk for consuming directly.
