Easy Red Chilli Jam Recipe to Spice Up Your Winter
Red chili jam is a really easy and tempting recipe. It has a spicy yet sweet taste, which is perfect for winter.

Red chili jam(known as Red chili chutney in my house)

You can spread this chili jam on your toast and even have it with fries and nachos :). This recipe is super tasty and, of course, spicy because of the fresh red chilies. This recipe is very, very easy to make, and I learn this recipe from my mom.
My mom and my mother-in-law always make this recipe in winter. We usually get fresh red chilies in winters. They both used to prepare this recipe in bulk and store it for the whole year.
The interesting part is, we don't have that bread culture much in the native. As a result, we used to have this as a condiment. Sometimes, we also include it in sandwich recipes 😜.
Honestly, I didn't plan to make this recipe this season. Last morning, one of my friends who is a reader of the blog requested this recipe on WhatsApp. Luckily, I got the fresh red chilies from the market.
The recipe is quite easy to prepare, but requires 2 hours at least. I am using my mommy's method. I marinated my red chilies in salt for 2 hours. This lowers the spiciness of the chilies.
Why do you need to try?
I am really excited to share this recipe with you. I am even more excited to see your reactions.

Transfer to a mixer jar. Add sugar. Crush to a smooth paste.

Heat the pan. Add a little bit of sugar if required and transfer the paste. Boil for 1-2 minutes. Turn off the flame and stir it. Let it cool down completely. Store in the jar and refrigerate it.

Notes
- This jam can stay fresh 1-2 months.
- Always use Sterilize glass jar to store jams for a longer shelf life.
- You can use Jam sugar instead of regular sugar if available. Jam sugar is a sugar with added pectin. It is very good for setting jams and jellies low in natural fruit pectin.

Chili jam is typically made with fresh red chilies, sugar, salt, and sometimes lemon juice or vinegar for balance and preservation.
Do not get confused with red bell peppers and fresh red chilies, as they are two different ingredients. Bell peppers are not spicy, whereas red chilies are spicy.
The spice level depends on the type of chillies used. Removing seeds and marinating with salt can help reduce the heat, as mentioned in the recipe.
Soaking or marinating chillies in salt helps reduce bitterness and excess heat while releasing moisture, improving the final texture and flavor.
When stored in a sterilized jar in the refrigerator, chilli jam can last around 1-2 months or longer depending on hygiene and storage conditions.
Yes! This recipe naturally thickens using sugar and cooking. You can also use jam sugar (which contains pectin) for a firmer set.

You and I have chili on the brain. Love this jam. How awesome would this be on a cheese board!!! You are a brave girl using your bare hands. We had to vent out the house with the last chili oil making day, how about you? Pinning!

I'm a big fan of chilli jams & all things chilli & this is a good one.
super simple & delicious,
I also modified it by adding a clove of garlic & a piece of ginger (about the size of the clove) mince both well prior to putting in blender. (ginger doesn't breakdown that easily in the blender)
Incredible addition to a humdrum sandwich.
Thank You Priya
Love your modification 🙂 Thanks a lot for lovely words. share the pic if possible 🙂
