I believe, the origin of the recipe is Uttar Pradesh. Aloo Tikki is the savory snack that is served at the roadside food stalls and side tracks. Mostly it is famous in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

aloo tikki is served with chole in the north Indian region and served with tamarind chutney. while in western India, It can be served with green chutney.I served it with hung curd and garlic dip. In western Indian region, it is known as aloo patties. The recipe I am sharing today is very simple without any stuffing. aloo-tikki-priyascurrynation

potato tikki is an ideal party snack recipe which also can be prepared easily. it is usually served as starters or appetizers with green chutney or yogurt mint chutney. these potato | aloo tikki can be extended to the sandwich and burgers by placing in between of two slices. if you add vegetables such as carrots , beans or green peas, then it will extend your recipe to the vegetable patties. you can even serve these patties with chana ragda OR matar ragda.

I am using cornflour as a binding agent in this recipe. while using cornflour make sure your potatoes are completely cool otherwise your mixture will get chewiness and stickiness.

Ingredients
  • 2 large potatoes boiled
  • 1 tbsp ginger grated
  • 1 medium green chily chopped
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper powder
  • 1/4 tsp chat masala optional
  • 2 tbsp fresh coriander chopped [optional]
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 3 tbsp corn flour for dusting
Instructions
  1. take a mixing bowl and mash your potatoes first.

  2. add ginger and chilies.

  3. add black pepper powder.

  4. add salt to taste.

  5. add corn flour.

  6. mix it well.

  7. take a small portion of the mixture and prepare a ball.

  8. give a tikki shape to the ball.

  9. heat butter in pan.

  10. gently place the tikkis.

  11. roast on both side until golden brown.

  12. serve hot.

Recipe Notes
  • skip if you don't have coriander available.
  • you can add turmeric and red chili powder. I am skipping it because I want my tikkis "white". in case of using, use both in 1/4 tsp quantity.
