Masala vada or masala vadai is a south indian fritter recipe. I have prepared this masala vadai recipe from leftover dosa batter. This is quite simple and easy recipe.This recipe is not authentic but tasty and i like it much with my regular cup of ginger tea.


I have shared dalwada recipe which is also a type of south indian fritters before on blog.Bengal gram was the main ingredient in my previous recipe.
today's recipe is kinda quick decision for me as i have some left over batter. I have used my regular dosa batter here.

Recipe Details for making masala vadai below:

  Recipe masala vada -how to make masala vadai

Prep Time :5 min
Cook Time :10 min
Total Time :15 min

Cuisine :south indian

Ingredients:
  • dosa batter - 1 cup
  • salt - to taste
  • Onion ,grated - 1 medium size
  • coriander - 1 tbsp
  • black pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  • ginger-chili paste - 1 tsp
  • oil for deep frying
Method/Assembling: 
  1. mix all ingredients in dosa batter and make the batter lump free.
  2. Heat oil in kadai.
  3. check when oil is hot enough.
  4. Using spoon, drop small amount of batter in hot oil and spread little to give oval shape.
  5. Fry them on medium flame until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with catch up and tea.
