Puran poli recipe is made from jaggery OR sugar, Yellow gram(Chana dal) and wheat flour. I am sharing gujrati version here so i am using Toor Dal ( pigeon peas split).
Puran poli is stuffed bread with Sweet lentil filling.As i have told, Gujarati version have toor dal in filling and Maharashtrian version have Chana dal. Both cooking procedure is same .
Gujrati vedmi is serve with Gujarati Kadhi while maharashtrian poli is serve with Amti.
If you are planning to prepare maharastrian style poli, please soak Bengal gram for 1 hour atleast.
Making perfect puran poli is an art and takes practice as you need know the texture and hardness level of your dough.
