 Basic whole wheat chocolate cake with step by step photos
Egg-less whole wheat chocolate cake is very basic recipe. This whole wheat chocolate cake is perfect to beat your teatime hunger.It is very spongy,light and moist cake.
This is a bit healthy version of cake as this cake is made from Whole wheat flour.

After sharing basics recipes earlier on blog, I got quite confidence in baking.
I made this cake in microwave but if you don't have microwave,You can prepare it in pressure cook too.
I have used Plain soda water here which is also makes your cake soft. But i have shared other versions of cakes without sodawater as well. Do check them.
You can use any flavored frosting of your liking. but according to me, you can combine cocolate with strawberry flavor frosting.
I kept this cake plain without frosting just because i wanted to serve this Hot cake with indian tea.
At last , I always believe , If you want to make perfect sponge cake, You must follow the measurements.

Recipe Details for making Egg-less wholewheat chocolate cake below:

  Recipe easy chocolate cake-how to make chocolate cake using whole wheat flour

Prep Time :10-15 min
Cook Time :30 -35 min
Total Time :40 -45 min
Serves : 250 gm cake

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1/4 cup + 2 tbsp plain soda water
  • 25 gm butter
  • 100 gm milkmaid/condensed milk
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp almonds , chopped
  1. Grease your cake pan with butter and keep it aside.Keep you all ingredients ready.
  2. Mix wheat flour,cocoa powder,baking soda and baking powder well and keep it aside.
  3. Take a large mixing bowl.
  4. Add butter and whisk it using whisker/beater for a while. OR until it soften.
  5. Add condensed milk and mix it using beater.
  6. Slowly add flour mixture and whisk.
  7. Add soda water and mix the batter using beater for 5 mins.
  8. Your mixture will gain light and fluffy texture. at last add almonds and mix well.
  9. Transfer the batter in cake pan.
  10. Bake the cake in a preheated oven for 200 degrees celsius/392 degrees fahrenhiet for 35 to 40 mins. since temperatures vary from oven to oven, do keep a check. for baking in a convection mode of microwave oven, preheat the oven at 180 degrees celsius/356 degrees fahrenheit for 15 minutes. then bake the cake at 180 degrees celsius /356 degree fahrenheit for the 30 to 35 minutes.
  11. For doneness, check the cake with a tooth pick. the tooth pick should come out clean. once the cake becomes warm or cools down, unmold and place it on a wired rack. if the tooth pick is sticky, then place the cake bake in the oven and continue to bake for some more minutes. before frosting let the cake cool completely.
Notes :

  • All the ingredients and equipment i have used here is listed below with the links.
  • You can use ½ tsp eno instead of baking soda.
  • You cannot use baking powder instead of baking soda.
