Drumstick is the veggie i can not avoid in sambar. Drumstick curry is very simple yet flavorful side dish recipe.Drumstick is known as "Sargava Sing " in gujarati . this curry is known as " Sinn/Seeng nu shak" in gujrati.
Drumstick and curd gravy is very famous and well known recipe in gujju homes.


I have follow my mommy's recipe. I Drumstick curry have savory and spicy taste.
I have used Onion,garlic and tomato for tadka here. To make gravy,I have used homemade curd here.
Most common and reliable method to boil drumstick is, use deep vessel and boil drumsticks along with water.however i have use Pressure cooker here to boil drumsticks. The advantage of using pressure cooker is it saves lots of time.
Boiled Drumsticks are juicy and pulpy inside so you need to be careful while dealing with drumsticks.

  Drumstick kurry Recipe-how to make drumstick and curd curry

Total Time :20 min
Main Ingredient :Drumsticks
Serves :2-3
Cuisine :Gujarati

Ingredients:
  • 3 drumsticks,washed and diced
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup yogurt/curd
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 small onion,chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • 1 tsp besan/gram-flour
  • 5-6 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/4 red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds/Jeera 
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • fresh coriander ,for garnishing
  • Water for boiling[1 cup approx]
Method/Assembling:
  1. Wash you drumsticks and cut them to an finger length or small.
  2. Transfer them into a pressure cooker.Add 1 cup water atleast and pressure cook them on high flame for 1 whistle.
  3. Take a mixing bowl and add yogurt, turmeric powder,red chili powder and besan.
  4. Make a fine mix. avoid lumps.
  5. Heat oil in pan OR kadai
  6. Add  cumin and mustard.when they crakle add garlic.
  7. Saute it for a while.Add onion and tomato.
  8. Saute them well. Add boiled drumsticks and salt.Mix them well.
  9. Add curd mixture and water.
  10. Boil curry well for 5-8 min.
  11. sprinkle some coriander.
  12. Serve hot.
    Note:
    • Pressure cook drumsticks for 1 whistle only. Otherwise drumsticks will be overcooked.

    2. My mom used to cook boiled potato curry and chilla curry the same way! Garlic adds a distinct flavor to this curry. Love this drumstick version! :)

    5. I dont have pressure cooker! How long do I boil in normal pan?

      1. Boil drumsticks in salted water in normal pan for 15 min. Don't forget to cover your pan with lid.
